Dear Westside Elementary Family,

Thank you to all of our families who participated and attended Multicultural Night! It was an amazing event! We had so many countries from within our own student population represented! We tried different foods, listened/watched performances and even got to do a Native American Audicance dance! Bagdad Elementary's Folklorico group came over and performed for our community, and our very own students took time to sing and show their native dance of their countries! It was truly a wonderful evening! If you missed this event, consider attending next year!

This week we have begun a new area of focus on our Inspire Wall. We are highlighting charitable people and inventors who have made a difference in our world. Stop by the library to read about these amazing individuals. In addition our very own third grade students have taken the time to give back to our community by participating in Brown Santa with Travis County Sheriff's Department. We are working as a campus to create meaning of what it means to Inspire in our world. The word “Inspire” is a part of our Westside Mission, “Lead, Grow, Inspire,” but it is also the most difficult part of our mission to conceptualize. Through our partnerships with our families, we are actively working on creating unique learning experiences to build understanding of this area of citizenship. All students will participate in an “Inspire” learning experience this year, so be on the lookout for communication from your student’s teachers throughout the Winter and Spring months!

We hope you had a wonderful weekend with your family! It was beautiful outside all weekend long to have some fun in the sun!

Have a wonderful week,

Amanda Lillard

Cold/Hot Weather Guidelines
Leander ISD sets weather guidelines each year. With the recent cold fronts lowering temperatures below freezing and noticing not all of our kids are coming to school with jackets, we have decided to be more cautious with the guidelines we put in place.
